UIDAI allows people with Aadhaar cardsto change their address, without needing documentation. Aadhaar card holders were able to modify their address, but only if they had not presented the proof of identity.
New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily stopped a crucial facility that allows you to modify the address of your Aadhaar card's address without evidence of address.
UIDAI permits the users of Aadhaar cards to change their address without requiring any documentation. Aadhaar cardholders can change their address, if they agree to the authentication by the verifier of their address. An address verifier could be a relative, friend or landlord who will allow the Aadhaar card owner to verify their address.
UIDAI has now halted this facility. UIDAI replied to an Aadhaar Card owner via Twitter, stating that the ability to update the address on the Aadhaar Card through an Address Validation Certificate was canceled. UIDAI has asked its Aadhaar provider to alert the user to update their address using a genuine PoA document.
Dear Residents Dear Resident: The addresses Validation Letter service has been suspended until the next notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
